Finally, the MSM is publishing something positive in Iraq. It must of killed multiple editors at the New York Times to run the story. But the article is excellent and the last four points of Former Secretary of Defense West is an awesome summation. Which I have included below. However if you have the time read the entire article to understand the good news on the ground in Iraq please go to NYT to do that. Also check out the excellent write up at BlackFive.

In summary, I would make four points.

First, General Petraeus is our wartime leader. He has a smart, experienced staff. He will provide to you a fulsome, balanced assessment in September - far superior to anything you will hear in the interim.

Second, how you, our elected leaders, depict our withdrawal will have profound consequences. To a very large extent, you will shape the narrative, determining how our great nation is perceived and how friends and enemies respond to us.

Third, if the rationale for withdrawal is because Iraq seems hopeless, then leaving behind a residual force is fraught with peril. You cannot quit, and expect to manage what happens after you quit. Iraq, if it perceives it is being abandoned, could fly apart quickly.

Fourth, the rationale for withdrawal drives everything that comes thereafter. Why are we withdrawing? Is it because we as a nation have given up, concluding that full-scale civil war is inevitable; or has our military succeeded, allowing Iraqi forces to maintain stability?

I do not see a compromise "middle ground" between those two rationales.

Finally, proof of something I have suspected for quite awhile, that the liberals are in bed with the terrorist to further their own agenda. The Socialist err... Democratic party is selling its soul to the special interest groups and in turn the special interest groups are in bed with the terrorist. Why the MSM is not all over this I'll never know. Oh wait, they are liberal too. Never mind the right-wing conspiracy the left-wing one is going to get us all killed. The liberal MSM is waging a disinformation war against the American people in order to break our will to fight the enemy. But what's more appalling is the fact that if they win the Islamist are going to cut their throats first! One would think they would be lining up behind us to help defeat the greatest threat since Hitler, Tojo and Mussolini. This website is a must read for any American who still considers themselves a patriot.

I started this post with the idea I was going to talk about the Marxist festival titled MARXISM 2007 A Festival of Resistance.
This little get together included the who's who of the socialist movement of Canada as well as some folks who lean toward the terrorist point of view. What really amazed me is how embedded the socialist are in Canada's higher education system. It blows my mind that despite all their years of education they still can see how crappy socialism is. Have they not learned anything from Stalin, or Mao? Or do they think the murdering of millions is a great idea? Stalin's purges killed millions in Russia and Mao's Great leap forward was straight off a cliff because is systematically starved millions to death. BUT WAIT!!! there's more!!! Take the time and read through the list of classes and more importantly the list of speakers! This would be funny stuff if we weren't involved in a war. They actually highlight a guy who met MAO! Like it was a great thing. These people are seriously twisted and need to be rounded up and place in interment camps because unlike the Japanese these people have earned it.

Carolyn Egan came to Canada from the US as part of the wave of draft resisters opposed to the war in Vietnam. She is President of the United Steelworkers Toronto Area Council.

Dr. Mohamed Elmasry is Chair of the Board and President of the Canadian Islamic Congress. He is also Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo.

Jen Hassum is President of the University of Toronto Student Administrative Council (SAC), and President-elect of the Canadian Federation of Students. She is also former co-chair of the U of T NDP Club.

Andrew Hodge is a teacher and social justice activist in Toronto. He is a longstanding member of the International Socialists.

Doctors: Pot Triggers Psychotic Symptoms

LONDON — New findings on marijuana's damaging effect on the brain show the drug triggers temporary psychotic symptoms in some people, including hallucinations and paranoid delusions, doctors say.

One compound, cannabidiol, or CBD, made people more relaxed. But even small doses of another component, tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, produced temporary psychotic symptoms in people, including hallucinations and paranoid delusions, doctors said.

Doctors at Yale University in the U.S. tested the impact of THC on 150 healthy volunteers and 13 people with stable schizophrenia. Nearly half of the healthy subjects experienced psychotic symptoms when given the drug.

While everyone goes through the knee-jerk reaction of debating gun control. I would like for you to consider a speech giving byDarrell Scott a father whose daughter was killed during Columbine. This speech was giving before the House Judiciary Committee; you may have seen it passed around in an email forward. I'm always suspicious of email forwards so I did some checking and found out that it is actually true. So, here is some food for thought:

Since the dawn of creation there has been both good & evil in the hearts of men and women. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children who died must not be in vain. Their blood cries out for answers. "The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in the field. The villain was not the club he used.. Neither was it the NCA, the National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for the murder could only be found in Cain's heart. "In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA. I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun. I am not here to represent or defend the NRA - because I don't believe that they are responsible for my daughter's death. Therefore I do not believe that they need to be defended. If I believed they had anything to do with Rachel's murder I would be their strongest opponent. I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy -- it was a spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame lies! Much of the blame lies here in this room. Much of the blame lies behind the pointing fingers of the accusers themselves. I wrote a poem just four nights ago that expresses my feelings best. This was written way before I knew I would be speaking here today:
Your laws ignore our deepest needs, Your words are empty air. You've stripped away our heritage, You've outlawed simple prayer. Now gunshots fill our classrooms, And precious children die. You'll notice the Moon bat starts the message with a personal attack against the author, this type of behavior is typical for a Moon bat especially when they have nothing meaningful to say.

We're not defending a thing in Iraq, except the MIC's and Halliburton's ability to rape the American Taxpayer for the Oil Industry. Who got their deal for 90 percent of Iraq's oil, now they just need our troops there to enforce the deal. In this paragraph the Moon bat begins to use emotionally charged words such as Rape. They do this to try to elicited an emotional response instead of relying on rational thought and logic to support their argument.
This is followed by outlandish claims that have no basis in reality
This war was sold on pack of lies. The Bush Admin was dealing with the Persians (Iran) in 2001 to prepare them for our attack of Iraq--this was before 9-11. Again this section uses half-truths and inflammatory words with no real substances to speak of, which is typical of the Moon bat

This administration has its roots in the creation of Al Qaeda. Remember those Stinger missiles? Heck, Iran-Contra folks were involved in getting the forged Italian "Niger" docs to the US Embassy -- Ledeen and Ghobufar. Here the Moon bat spews more outlandish conspiracy theories which again have no basis in reality

This is an awesome movie and is highly recommended for anyone who considers themselves a red blooded, freedom loving American. 300 is based on the ancient battle between the Spartans (Greeks, Western Civilizations) and the Persians ( Iran and Islam) The film focuses on the battle of Thermopylae where 300 Spartans held off the entire Persian army for several days. The Spartan delaying force, under the command of the Spartan king Leonidas was wiped out to the last man.

The The film does a great job of highlighting some of the great virtues of Greek thought such has democracy, freedom, sacrifice, and service.
Throughout the movie I couldn't help but think that this movie is a reflection of the current times we face in the Middle East complete with Persians. In the movie Leonidas greets a messenger from Persian King Xerxes, the messenger basically says submit to the Persian king ( who thinks he is a man-god) or die. This is strikingly reminiscent of the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (who thinks he is some sort of prophet) and his letter he wrote to President Bush. Well, after Leonidas kicks the messenger and his escorts down the well. He sets about rallying support for war with Persia. Immediately he is met with resistance from the council (Senate Democrats) who are reluctant to get involved. Of course there is a traitor in the ranks of the Council who is secretly working with the Persians and is getting paid. ( fill in the name of your favorite Democrat for that honor, Clinton, Pelosi, Murtha, etc....) So, Leonidas asks for 300 volunteers to go off and fight the Persians alone. ( Read President Bush and all deployed troops in the Middle- East). Hopefully this is where the similarities end because as you know all the Spartans die at Thermopylae. However, in the end freedom prevails and the Iranians er.. Persians are defeated and sent packing.

Top General Opposes Openly Gay Troops

Gen. Peter Pace, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told The Chicago Tribune yesterday that he opposes any change to the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, which bars service by openly gay soldiers. General Pace, a Marine officer, explained why he supported the current policy:
“I believe homosexual acts between individuals are immoral and that we should not condone immoral acts.”

I think Gen. Pace is homophobic and a bit of a wacky religico, but I also think he’s right that the policy shouldn’t change. Mainly because of Mr. Moskos’ points. Realistically, homophobia is the norm. It shouldn’t be, but it certainly is. Thus, openly gay people in the armed forces would be a negative in a variety of ways. Homophobes wouldn’t join up, and they are the majority. Those in the services would quit early. Our army would be less well regarded world wide (homophobia being the norm everywhere). I believe the ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ policy is the only workable one, the other option being no gays in the military at all.
If there are gay activists who take offense at my words, I think they’re unwilling to accept reality. And I used to be an activist myself (although straight), but when the gay marriage thing got kicked up right before the 2004 election and handed the moron Bush the presidency, I was so incensed that I lost all interest in gay issues, and will not support them until there are no issues of more importance. For example, a functional, respected army is a whole lot more important than having one with transvestite paratroopers.

Why are people so fixed on the idea of morality? Do we need morals to be American, and who wrote the book of morals? Why is sexuality even an issue in the military? Why is homosexuality deemed immoral? Who said it is? Moses? The Prophets? People need to take their heads out of those holy books and get a dose of reality. There are probably more gays in the military than you think. Homosexuality is totally natural and the people who profecy against it are always the biggest ones. Let the gay people fight for their country openly. Real straight people don’t care about gay people and their issues. Gay people are human just like everyone else and homosexuality is natural, so let them fight. They vote and pay taxes so let them fight openly.

From a purely practical standpoint, it’s ridiculous to be discharging soldiers with crucial skills when the military is deployed for two long-term commitments. It’s entirely possible that soldiers have been wounded or killed because the Arabic-speaking soldier who could have translated a key piece of intel had been discharged from duty. From a philosophical standpoint, generals should be telling the American people what’s moral or immoral. It should be the other way around. And more and more, Americans seem to have different view than Gen. Pace does.

I am in the Army. I am training to be an officer. I am supposed to learn about all the Army policies and uphold each one. Personally I think homosexuality is a sin and an immorality. I would not be comfortable living in close quarters with an actively homosexual person serving under my comand.
When I enlisted and BEFORE I swore an oath to defend my county, I was told that homosexuality is not something that the military likes. So did everybody who enlisted (everyone INCLUDING any openly and non-openly homosexual recruit).
By hiding the fact that they are a member of the homosexual community they are lying to the Army, just so they get to enlist. Then when I become an officer along with and all the other men and women under my command, are supposed to be ok with this homosexual American soldier and let them carry on with their sexual debauchery?
I will try to treat all soldiers under my command fairly, but if anyone does something agains the rules across the board, I will make sure he or she is disciplined according to Army regulations and standards.

Many of the western armed forces allow (in fact promote) gays in the military. For example, Canada, Israel, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, and probably many others. Their are gay Brits serving in Iraq and Afghanistan and gay Canadians serving in Afghanistan along side US soldiers without any affect on the US military!

Amen, Mr. Vice President I for one I'm sick and tired of the Dems working as the propaganda machine for the enemy. Its like the whole party is made up of a bunch of Jane Fonda wanna-bees. What's next photo-ops of Murtha and company wearing suicide belts on sitting in car bombs? The Dems have clearly stated they are the party of Defeat. What this country needs is a Party of Victory! Setting time lines and all that other jazz just gives the enemy the will to hang on longer. I mean really truth be told if they really cared about the troops they should just rally behind the President and demonstrate to the enemy that we are united after a few months of that the war would be over because the enemy would see that it is hopeless to stay in the fight. But for the Dems that would mean actually supporting the President and we can't do that. Because we need to make the President look bad so we can win an election. So much for supporting the troops.

Militia and what it means for the 2nd Amendment

This is a great post on the correct interpretation of militia when it comes to the 2ND Amendment.

Today’s topic is the militia, specifically what it is and what it isn’t, and why it’s important. Since those of you who really understand it will say, “Yeah, tell me something I don’t know,” this is directed at those who simply don’t know the militia is, in order to educate them. As for those who have been told what it is and why it is that way but still insist on believing otherwise, well, read on and see if your mind opens up a bit.

The definition of the militia is at the heart of the debate on the meaning of the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution, which states, “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

Gun control advocates claim that it grants the States the right to establish and maintain military forces, today called the National Guard, and has nothing to do with individuals’ rights to keep and bear arms. Besides the obvious facts that only individuals, and not governments, possess rights; that no piece of paper grants a right but rather protects it; that the National Guard is a fairly recent invention that is armed, organized and ultimately directed by the Federal government as a reserve component (check out a Guardsman’s uniform—it says “US Army”); and finally that there is no way to say that this amendment strengthens the power of the state when the entire thrust of the Bill of Rights was meant to protect the people’s rights from the government.

Nope, it means nothing of the kind, as gun rights advocates, who are really civil rights advocates, will correctly point out. The militia is the vast majority of the citizens of this country, the law-abiding, engaged, able-bodied working men who stand ready to defend themselves and their communities, and who can be called into national service if the need arises. It's pretty much all of us. How do we know this? We ask the Founding Fathers. They reply through the very clear writings and commentary they left on he subject. (See here, and here to name only two sites.) Bottom line: the militia exists beyond the power of the government, it can be embodied by the government when necessary, but at other times it simply is. And it is up to the members of the militia to see to it that they are well-regulated, i.e. armed and trained and ready. The government just stands out of the way.

Still not convinced? Still believe that armed force is a state monopoly where citizens ought not tread? Where we should all leave it up the “professionals,” because of course they’re so much better trained than we are? Let me give you some food for thought, about another vital area of security and safety in America where the citizenry plays a vital role-- Jury duty.

Serving on a jury is akin to serving in the militia. It is a consequence and an obligation of citizenship. You might never be called upon to do it, but that doesn’t mean you’ll never be called upon, and while you can with some difficulty get out of it, there are consequences to saying you won’t do it. The jury pool is made up of sound-minded able-bodied citizens, and it specifically excludes certain types of people, criminals for one. Others who would be excluded from jury duty include, interestingly, lawyers and police officers. Why? Because they’re too close to the system and they serve it in other ways, oft-times as agents paid and directed by the state. An independent, non-professional jury is a check on the judicial power of the state in just the same way as an independent non-professional armed citizenry is a check on the overall power of the state. Prospective jurors are only called into service—embodied, as it were—when needed, and then dismissed when their work is done. It’s all part of being an engaged citizen.

So there you have it. I hope you learned something today, and I hope you pass it on to others, especially those who just don’t get it. The right to keep and bear arms is a right whether you exercise it or not, and it’s a vital part of the safety and security of this country.

Dear friends, you and your leaders have wasted three generations trying to fight for Palestine, but the truth is the Palestine you could have had in 1948 is much bigger than the one you could have had in 1967, which in turn is much bigger than what you may have to settle for now or in another 10 years. At the moment, brothers, you would be lucky to secure a semblance of a state in that Gaza Strip into which you have all crowded, and a small part of the West Bank of the Jordan. Al-Qaeda Attack Omaha?

This is a great post from Defense Tech Blog. It discuss how the decisions are made on how to spend the DHS money across the country. Personally I feel it is impossible to fortify every target in America. The money should be spent first on increasing intelligence capabilities; and two on block grants to states to so they can decide how to defend themselves in the event of a terrorist attack. The amount of money each state receives is based on the population of each state.

Some ordinarily smart people are saying some extraordinarily silly things, to try and spin some sense into the Homeland Security Department's decision to cut funds for New York and DC. The argument goes like this:
If I were a terrorist... I’m not sure I’d hit New York or Washington. Too obvious. Been done. Besides, both probably are reasonably well fortified. Therefore, I could easily imagine a scenario in which the next terror attacks occur in, say, Wichita.
Okay, sure. You can imagine all kinds of doomsday scenarios. Let your mind roam free. But if you want figure out where Osama & Co. might attack in the future, your best bet is to look at what they've done in the past, not daydream darkly. Because terrorism is an evolutionary art. Al-Qaeda doesn't hatch brand new types of strikes out of the blue; it develops them slowly, over time, taking what it learned in one attack and applying to the next. Even seemingly "out of the box" plans, like 9/11, were test-marketed years and years before.
So let's look at the record. Have Al-Qaeda and its affiliates hit any cornfields? Any small towns? Any exurbs? No, no, and no, actually. Instead, they've focused on three main types of targets:
* Big cities (New York, London, Madrid, Istanbul, Amman, Riyadh, DC)
* Military and government installations (Pentagon, USS Cole, East African embassies)
* Resorts (Sharm-el-Sheikh, Bali, Kenya)
Once it's tried an attack in a given place, does Al-Qaeda give up on it, and move somewhere else? 'Fraid not. In fact, they tend to revisit the same sites, over and over again. Take my home town, for example. As Police Commissioner Ray Kelly notes in today's New York Post:
New York remains a target-rich environment nonetheless, as a cursory review of terrorist acts here would indicate.
The iconic Brooklyn Bridge caught al Qaeda's eye after 9/11 when its operative Iyman Faris was tasked to see if it could be taken down. Another Islamic radical, Rashad Baz, was drawn to the Brooklyn Bridge in 1994 to shoot up a van with Hasidim occupants, including 16-year-old Ari Halberstam, who was killed. A like-minded radical picked the Empire State Building to spray the observation deck with gunfire, killing one tourist and wounding six others there in 1997.
The terrorists' first attempt to destroy the World Trade Center resulted in the deaths of six innocent people in 1993. Al Qaeda returned in 2001 to finish the job.
Then there was the al Qaeda "landmark" plot of 1993 to destroy the George Washington Bridge, the Lincoln and Holland Tunnels and the United Nations. The New York Stock Exchange and the Citigroup Center in Midtown made al Qaeda's list of inviting targets in another plot exposed after 9/11.
More recently, a federal grand jury convicted the suspect in a plot, foiled by the NYPD, to bomb the Herald Square subway station in 2004. A terrorist bombing of the Atlantic Avenue subway complex in Brooklyn was narrowly averted by police intervention in 1997. Then there were the anthrax attacks against The Post and NBC in New York...
We had hoped that DHS would rely on the intelligence community to assess the threat and make funding decisions accordingly. Instead, DHS abdicated its responsibility.
For a while now, we've been focusing way too much on what security guru Bruce Schneier calls "movie-plot threats" -- scenarios that sound completely scary, but are beyond unlikely. So countless millions get poured into protecting cows from Al-Qaeda and stopping jihadist cropdusters. When he first took the Homeland Security gig, Michael Chertoff promised to end the farce, and protect the places that Al-Qaeda might actually attack, no matter how, well, hum-drum, that might seem. Unfortunately, he -- and others -- can't seem to resist the Tinseltown draw.

What's up with Gitmo?

One of my favorite bloggers, Michelle Malkin, continued a thread of discussion on the latest Gitmo detainee suicides in her post, Boo Freakin' Hoo. She writes, "The manipulative detainees at Guantanamo Bay reportedly used the generous civil liberties protections we gave them to plot their suicide pact. Are you surprised?" No Michelle, I'm not, and I'd like to add my comments for the education of all who were surprised.
The Gitmo detainees are warrior ideologues, completely indoctrinated in a totalitarian resistance philosophy. They make war upon the infidel wherever they find him, be it in Afghanistan, Iraq, Gitmo, London or Manhattan. If they must, they will resist from inside a prison camp, and they will gleefully use our civilized system of laws to beat us. The quicker we understand this, the more capable we will be to defeat them.
(For a similar episode, see T. R. Fehrenbach's This Kind Of War, specifically Chapter 35, "Koje Do." This describes the revolt of North Korean prisoners at a POW camp. Having been equitably treated under Geneva Convention rules, given all sorts of facilities for recreation and betterment, the NoKo prisoners secretly organized and then captured the American camp commandant. It is not a pleasant tale. There are multiple lessons contained in the story, and I commend it to you if you want to understand totalitarian warrior ideology.)
I wonder if we have to endure a "Gitmo-Do" before we understand truly what we're dealing with. There are many courses of action open to handle the Gitmo detainees. Treating them like normal prisoners isn't the right one. Let them suffer the consequences of their actions, and let them regret the day they took the field against the United States. Hard measures are in order. I, for one, won't lose sleep.

Illegal immigration fueling aims of Hispanic radicals

A radical Hispanic movement's dream to retake the southwestern United States is becoming a reality with the aid of Mexican and U.S. policies, according to some immigration watchers.

A massive influx of illegal immigrants is "importing poverty" and growing an ethnic community with greater loyalty to Mexico than the U.S., maintains Glenn Spencer, president of Voices of Citizens Together, a California-based non-profit group.

"Unless this is shut down within two years, I believe that it will be irreversible, and that it will most certainly lead to a breakup of the United States," Spencer told WorldNetDaily. "I don't think there is any doubt about it."

A breakaway of U.S. states is a distinct possibility, according to prominent Chicano activist and University of California at Riverside professor Armando Navarro. In an interview with WorldNetDaily, Navarro would not answer directly whether he shared separatist aspirations, but said that if demographic and social trends continue, secession is inevitable.

"If in 50 years most of our people are subordinated, powerless, exploited and impoverished, then I will say to you that there are all kinds of possibilities for movements to develop like the ones that we've witnessed in the last few years all over the world, from Yugoslavia to Chechnya," Navarro said.

"A secessionist movement is not something that you can put away and say it is never going to happen in the United States," he continued. "Time and history change."

In a 1995 speech to Chicano activists, Navarro said demographic trends are leading to "a transfer of power" to the ethnic Mexican community in the Southwest. He notes that most studies show that within the next 20 to 30 years Latinos will comprise more than 50 percent of the population of California. This fact, and other cultural and social developments, are opening the door for "self-determination" and even "the idea of an Aztlan," he said in his speech.

Aztlan, the mythical birthplace of the Aztecs, is regarded in Chicano folklore as an area that includes California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and parts of Colorado and Texas. Spencer believes the aim is to create a sovereign state, "Republica del Norte," the Republic of the North, that would combine the American Southwest with the northern Mexican states and eventually merge with Mexico.

"I see that as the overarching goal of the Mexican government and many Mexicans who want self-determination," Spencer said.

'America's Palestinians'

On its website, a group called "La Voz de Aztlan," the Voice of Aztlan, identifies Mexicans in the U.S. as "America's Palestinians." Many Mexicans see themselves as part of a transnational ethnic group known as "La Raza," the race. A May editorial on the website, with a dateline of Los Angeles, Alta California, declares that "both La Raza and the Palestinians have been displaced by invaders that have utilized military means to conquer and occupy our territories."

But the threat of secession is not merely from groups that might be considered on the fringe, Spencer insists, noting the declarations of Mexican leaders, up to the highest office. Former Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo said in a 1997 speech in Chicago to the "National Council of La Raza, a Hispanic advocacy group, that he "proudly affirmed that the Mexican nation extends beyond the territory enclosed by its borders and that Mexican migrants are an important – a very important – part of this."

Zedillo said that because of this fact his government proposed a constitutional amendment that allows Mexican citizens to hold dual citizenship. Spencer believes that the objective is to enable Mexicans in the United States to vote in the interest of Mexico.

Ultimately, many Mexicans hope for a "reconquista," a reconquest of territory lost when Mexico signed the 1848 Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo at the end of the Mexican-American War.

"One could argue that while Mexico lost the war in 1848, it will probably win it in the 21st century, in terms of the numbers," Navarro told WorldNetDaily. "But that is not a reality based on what Mexico does, it's based on what this country does."

Spencer argues that misguided U.S. policies and lax enforcement have allowed a steady stream of 1 million illegal immigrants a year to enter the country. Demographers agree that instead of integrating into a "melting pot," new Hispanic immigrants, both legal and illegal, are building a distinct, politically active community.

The problem is not that they have a voice, Spencer says, but that they increasingly are acting according to the interests of Mexico.

Spencer believes that the Mexican government played an important role in the legal quashing of a 1995 California voter initiative, Proposition 187, that limited taxpayer funds to services for citizens only. After a visit with California Gov. Gray Davis in 1999, former Mexican President Zedillo told reporters that he had a commitment from Davis to ensure that "the catastrophic effects which were foreseen with Proposition 187 several years ago will not come to pass."

Among other signs of Mexican influence on U.S. affairs, Spencer notes that less than two years ago, West Los Angeles businessman Eddie Varon Levy became the first person living abroad to join the Mexican Congress. Varon Levy said one of his goals as a member of the Chamber of Deputies was to establish a special attorney's office to defend immigrants' rights.

Border erasure

The U.S. has tripled its border patrol budget over the past five years, but the flow of immigrants has barely changed. At the same time, Mexican President Vicente Fox has pressed for an eventual erasure of the southern border and encouraged Mexicans who seek work in the U.S.

At a speech one year ago at a border post in Nogales, just south of the Arizona border, Fox said: "We want to salute these heroes, these kids leaving their homes, their communities, leaving with tears in their eyes, saying goodbye to their families, to set out on a difficult, sometimes painful search for a job, an opportunity they can't find at home, their community or their own country."

Under the Fox regime, Mexico has an Office for Mexicans Abroad that provides survival kits for Mexicans who seek to enter the U.S. illegally.

Some immigration watchdogs in the U.S. believe, however, that all this does not add up to a desire by the Mexican government to retake the Southwest. Ira Mehlman, spokesman for the Los Angeles office of the Federation for American Immigration Reform, believes statements by Zedillo and Fox indicate "they are looking for some way to gain leverage with regard to American policy."

"They want to create one market where they will be able to send workers here without any restrictions, because it's in their interest to do so," Mehlman said.

The incentive to cross the U.S. border is high. The average illegal worker can make about $60 a day in the U.S. compared to about $5 a day in Mexico.

Immigration hurts both countries

But Allan Wall, an American married to a Mexican and a resident south of the border for 10 years, maintains that immigration is not helping Mexico. "I see it having many bad effects where I live," said Wall, Mexico correspondent for Project U.S.A., an immigration reform group in New York. "It's kind of like welfare; it encourages people to use the U.S. as a safety (net) rather than solve the problems in Mexico."

On the U.S. side of the border, Mexican migrant workers are viewed by many lawmakers and officials as an economic boon. Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan has said that the illegal workers increasingly play an essential "anti-inflationary" role in the U.S. economy.

But Spencer argues that the most recent census confirms that the immigration tide is "importing poverty." Wall agrees that the influx is precipitating a demographic meltdown that could lead to a fracturing of the country. "The United States needs to drastically reduce immigration and go back to an assimilation model, where immigrants learn English and become American; otherwise it will be a disaster," Wall said.

Studies indicate most Americans believe immigration policy is not serving their interests, Mehlman said. "They're upset about it, but still haven't been upset enough to demand that the government change its policies."

Mehlman explained that the impact on the average citizen is not easy to assess. "Even though they are aware that this is not necessarily beneficial, it's hard to convince someone of how much it is costing in social costs, how much it might be costing in lost wages."

Polls show that most Americans want something done about immigration, said Spencer, but are afraid to speak out because they don't want to be labeled as racist, or anti-immigrant. "That's the weapon the other side uses against us," said Spencer, who served among Native Americans for many years. "It is very effective, and they know it, and so they use it at every opportunity."

Wall believes that the "whole discourse on immigration" must be changed. "We have to distinguish between being anti-immigrant and anti-immigration," he said. "Like any other public policy issue, it should be debated. Unfortunately the mainstream press is only giving us one side of the immigration issue."

PHOENIX - Gov. Janet Napolitano on Wednesday ordered more National Guardsmen posted at the Mexican border to help stop illegal immigrants and curb related crimes.
National Guard troops have worked at the border since 1988, but Napolitano signed an order authorizing commanders to station an unspecified number of additional soldiers there to help federal agents.
Once the funding is approved, the troops will monitor crossing points, assist with cargo inspection and operate surveillance cameras, according to the order.
"They are not there to militarize the border," the governor said. "We are not at war with Mexico."
About 170 National Guardsmen are already posted at the nation's busiest illegal entry point, where they assist with communications, fence construction and anti-drug efforts.
Napolitano did not say how many additional troops would be stationed at the border and referred questions to the National Guard. Guard spokesman Maj. Paul Aguirre said the number of troops would not be known until funding for the plan is approved.
The Democratic governor proposed sending troops to the border more than two months ago. Her critics in the Republican-led Legislature then introduced a bill requiring her to do so and providing $10 million for the project.
The bill won final approval Wednesday in the House and was headed to the governor, but she promised to veto the measure, saying it infringes on her constitutional powers as commander in chief of the Arizona National Guard.
Napolitano has asked the military to pay for her plan, but said she would commit state dollars if necessary.
The governor declared an immigration emergency last summer in Arizona's four border counties, citing security shortcomings by the federal government.

To think this picture has resulted in the death of four people so far is ridiculous. Stories in recent weeks shows angry Muslims running through the streets burning the Danish and other counties embassies. Its behavior like that, that drives people to create pictures like the one posted here. However, if you analyze the violence you will begin to see that their is a hidden hand at work in, when and where these so call protests happen. For instance, Muslims rioted in the streets in Brussels. When Brussels had nothing to do with the cartoons. They neither created or published the pictures in their country. So why are they rioting there? Well Brussels just so happens to be the headquarters to IAEA. Which are the same folks dealing with Iran over their wanting to built nukes. Finally, these cartoons where run months ago but now they are starting to cause a fuss. I find that interesting since it wasn't until recently that the world started to have a problem with Iran.

The U.S. Border Patrol has warned agents in Arizona of incursions into the United States by Mexican soldiers "trained to escape, evade and counterambush" if detected -- a scenario Mexico denied yesterday. The warning to Border Patrol agents in Tucson, Ariz., comes after increased sightings of what authorities described as heavily armed Mexican military units on the U.S. side of the border. The warning asks the agents to report the size, activity, location, time and equipment of any units observed. It also cautions agents to keep "a low profile," to use "cover and concealment" in approaching the Mexican units, to employ "shadows and camouflage" to conceal themselves and to "stay as quiet as possible." Border Patrol spokesman Salvador Zamora confirmed that a "military incursion" warning was given to Tucson agents, but said it was designed to inform them how to react to any sightings of military and foreign police in this country and how to properly document any incursion. Mr. Zamora added that although incursions by the Mexican military do occur, they usually have taken place in areas of the border "not marked by monuments or signs." He said U.S. military units also have crossed mistakenly into Mexico. But Rafael Laveaga, spokesman for the Mexican Embassy in Washington, denied that Mexican military personnel are crossing into the United States. "I strongly deny any incursions by the Mexican military as inaccurate allegations," Mr. Laveaga said. "The Mexican military is a well-respected institution with strict rules on how to control Northern Mexico. It maintains a protocol of not going within a mile of the border, and those who would trespass would be severely punished." Mr. Laveaga said some drug smugglers headed "both north and south" wear uniforms and drive military-type vehicles, and might have "confused" U.S. authorities. "Give me a break," said T.J. Bonner, a 27-year Border Patrol veteran who heads the National Border Patrol Council. "Intrusions by the Mexican military to protect drug loads happen all the time and represent a significant threat to the agents. "Why else would they be in the area, firing at federal agents in the United States? There is no other explanation," said Mr. Bonner, whose organization represents all 10,000 of the nonsupervisory Border Patrol agents. He also challenged reports that Mexican military units had crossed mistakenly into the United States, saying, "Every country's military has a [global positioning system] nowadays, including the Mexicans. "If the border is so poorly marked, why don't the thousands of Border Patrol agents working 24/7 along it ever seem to get lost, and none of us have been issued a GPS," he said. A Pentagon spokeswoman said yesterday that she had no information on the reported incursions. A total of 216 incursions by suspected Mexican military units have been documented since 1996 -- 75 in California, 63 in Arizona and 78 in Texas, according to a Department of Homeland Security report. Attacks on Border Patrol agents in the past few years have been attributed to current or former Mexican military personnel. U.S. law-enforcement officials have long thought that current and former Mexican soldiers are being paid to protect drug shipments bound for the United States. Several agents said the attacks have escalated in the past two years as U.S. security efforts on the border have increased -- including the July shooting of two agents in an ambush near Nogales, Ariz., by assailants in black commando-type clothing, who fired more than 50 rounds. Authorities said the gunmen used military-style cover-and-concealment tactics to escape back into Mexico. No one has been arrested. Santa Cruz County, Ariz., Sheriff Tony Estrada said that at least four shooters were involved and that his deputies found commando clothing, food, water and other "sophisticated equipment" at the site. Several former Mexican soldiers trained in the U.S. as anti-drug commandos are now part of a well-armed gang known as the "Zetas," which has been linked to hundreds of killings and kidnappings on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border in southeastern Texas. Many of the gang members have been identified as ex-members of an elite, anti-drug paratroop and intelligence battalion called the Special Air Mobile Force Group, who deserted in 1991.

Battle Ship's Future in doubt

U.S. Marines, while fighting valiantly in Iraq, are on the verge of serious defeat on Capitol Hill. A Senate-House conference on the Armed Services authorization bill convening this week is considering turning the Navy's last two battleships, the Iowa and Wisconsin, into museums. Marine officers fear that deprives them of vital fire support in an uncertain future.
Gen. Michael W. Hagee, the current Commandant of the Marine Corps, testified on April 1, 2003, that loss of naval surface fire support from battleships would place his troops "at considerable risk." On July 29 this year, Hagee asserted: "Our aviation is really quite good, but it can, in fact, be weathered."
The Navy high command is determined to get rid of the battleships, relying for support on an expensive new destroyer at least 10 years in the future. This is how Washington works. Defense contractors, Pentagon bureaucrats, Congressional staffers and career-minded officers make this decision that may ultimately be paid for by Marine and Army infantrymen.
Marine desire to reactivate the Iowa and Wisconsin runs counter to the DD(X) destroyer of the future. It will not be ready before 2015, costing between $4.7 billion and $7 billion. Keeping the battleships in reserve costs only $250,000 a year, with reactivation estimated at $500 million (taking six months to a year) and full modernization more than $1.5 billion (less than two years).
On the modernized battleships, 18 big (16-inch) guns could fire 460 projectiles in nine minutes and take out hardened targets in North Korea. In contrast, the DD(X) will fire only 70 long-range attack projectiles at $1 million a minute. The new destroyer will rely on conventional 155-millimeter rounds that Marines say cannot reach the shore. Former longtime National Security Council staffer William L. Stearman, now executive director of the U.S. Naval Fire Support Association, told me, "In short, this enormously expensive ship cannot fulfill its primary mission: provide naval surface fire support for the Marine Corps."
The Navy's anti-battleship bias began Dec. 7, 1941, when the Japanese surprise attack destroyed the U.S. Pacific Fleet's battleships. Although admirals in 1946 vowed never to bring back battleships, they served effectively in the Korean, Vietnam and Gulf wars. Congressional pressure brought the USS New Jersey to Vietnam for six months, leading the Marine Commandant, Gen. Leonard Chapman, to conclude, "Thousands of American lives were saved." The Marines calculated that 80 percent of 1,067 U.S. planes lost in Vietnam could have been saved had battleships fought the entire war.
The admirals moved to get rid of battleships forever when GOP Rep. Richard Pombo proposed sending the USS Iowa to Stockton, Calif., as a museum. The Navy supports that as well as making the USS Wisconsin a museum in Norfolk, Va., and repealing the existing requirement to keep two battleships in reserve. The Navy's anti-battleship campaign began March 15 when Adm. Charles Hamilton briefed the House Armed Forces Committee. It is no coincidence that Hamilton has been the Navy's point man promoting DD(X).
Never has it been clearer how the military-industrial complex functions. Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, General Dynamics and BAE Systems are mobilized behind DD(X). Congressional staffers, eyeing a future in the Pentagon or the armaments industry, know the way to future advancement is not to be pro-battleship.
"The Marine Corps supports the strategic purpose of reactivating two battleships," said a Nov. 19, 2004, General Accounting Office report. Since then, current Marine leaders have adhered to the naval position, but not retired Marines. Gen. P.X. Kelley, the renowned former commandant said in a June statement: "I would hate to see a premature demise of the battleships ... without a suitable replacement on station. In my personal experience in combat, the battleship is the most effective naval fire support platform in the history of naval warfare."
The Army is an interested but silent listener to this debate. Its generals have failed in their fight over stressing tube artillery. If Congress now turns the last battleships into museums, the losers will be the grunts who carry rifles.

The Marines argument makes sense. It would be much more cost effective to place the ships in storage then to convert them to museums at least till the new ship is ready to be deployed.

Meet Lindsey Blackledge. The 19-year-old California gal was arrested in July 2002 for possession of a stolen, 14-ounce tri-tip steak. According to the Calaveras County sheriff, the beef was swiped from the outdoor grill of Katherine King, a 38-year-old San Andreas woman who called cops after discovering her meat was missing. When police arrived at the crime scene, they discovered a trail of "meat juice" leading from King's grill to an upstairs apartment. Inside the apartment, investigators followed the meat drippings to a bathroom, where they found the purloined sirloin hidden in a cabinet below the sink. Blackledge--who was found in the apartment--was charged with a felony.

California Central Valley Smog Problem

I think everybody would agree smog is bad and that something needs to done about it. However, breaking the back of the little guy isn't the way to do it. Enter the air quality control folks. There solution to the bad air in the central valley is to punish the little guy for using his fire place. While big time farmers are burning their lands so they can plant crops. The almond growers burn branches and other plant by products too. These materials could be recycled instead of burning but because they have money which equals power the air quality people ignore them and instead focus on the little guy. They patrol the streets looking for people using their fireplaces and encourage others to report you like your some kind of criminal. This is especially hideous when oil company's and PG&E are sticking it too you for using natural gas or heating oil. The air quality folks need to force the farmers to recycle instead of burning their waste and they need to enforce stricter air quality regulations on cities like San Francisco who is polluting our air because the winds blow their smog into our valley. Maybe after addressing the problem with logic and common sense we will finally see our air quality improve instead of cowing to special interest.

Evacuees binge on Cape: Spend fed cash on booze, strippers

BOURNE Hurricane Katrina evacuees hastily handed $2,000 in federal relief money last month have been living it up on Cape Cod, blowing cash on booze and strippers, a Herald investigation has found.
Herald reporters witnessed blatant public drinking at a Falmouth strip mall by Katrina victims living at taxpayer expense at Camp Edwards on Otis Air Force Base. And strippers at Zachary's nightclub in Mashpee, a few miles from the Bourne base, report giving lap dances to several evacuees.
``They were tipping me $5 a pop,'' said a Zachary's dancer named Angel. ``I told them I felt bad taking their money. But I still took it.''
Another dancer said a large group from the military base was in Zachary's recently and she gave lap dances to several of the victims.
``Some spend good money, but others don't,'' she said.
An assistant club manager, who gave his name only as Michael, acknowledged yesterday that the strip joint is popular with people from Camp Edwards.
``It's no different for someone who lives at Camp Edwards or is stationed at Camp Edwards. As long as they have the proper ID they can go in,'' he said.
On Oct. 5, the Herald observed a virtual parade of evacuees from a bus stop in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Falmouth to nearby liquor stores. Some emerged and openly swilled from brown-bagged containers, while others poured booze into jugs or plastic cups and casually sipped drinks at the Wal-Mart bus stop.
The refugees have access to daily trolley service from Camp Edwards to the Falmouth Mall.
One elderly man poured a bottle of Ruble vodka into a water bottle and spent the afternoon sipping the liquor outside the Wal-Mart. Two other men were seen buying 32-ounce Coors Light cans at George's Liquors and drinking at the bus stop.
Last Tuesday, one 52-year-old evacuee, who told a reporter he was originally from Cuba, stood in the rain outside Wal-Mart for several hours drinking gin and orange juice from a thermos. The same day, a female evacuee bought ice at a supermarket and roughly $30 worth of hard liquor before being driven in a car back to Camp Edwards.

This story goes on for three or four pages listing the disgusting behavior of the so called "victims". When are we going to stop giving large amounts of money to people just because they so-called suffered. They shouldn't have been given money they should have been given vouchers with very clear restrictions on them concerning their use. I.E.Can only be used for food etc... This type of behavior clearly demonstrates exactly why they are poor it's not because they are black its because they are lazy and low-class with no desire to become anything better. As far as I'm concern they can starve in the streets there are thousands of programs out there to help the disadvantage without the federal government given them my tax dollars if they are too lazy to get off their butts and make something of themselves then they deserve what happens to them.

The American media is not driven by truth; it is driven by market domination. This leads to
sensationalistic reporting.
Members of the media have two competing and often contradictory roles.
They control the flow of information while simultaneously making the news
entertaining enough to "sell." This conflict of interests has led the media down the road to the point that sometimes they fabricate the news just to increase or maintain media ratings. For instance, News Week ran a story about military personnel in Cuba that they where flushing Korans down the toilet. This story was utterly false and resulted in the death of sixteen people around the world during anti-American protests. However News Week sold a lot of magazines. The list is endless with accounts of the media fabricating stories to increase ratings or to achieve a political agenda. CNN produced a story about firearms that was false to support the liberal agenda on banning guns. CNN was caught in the lie and they retracted the story but the lie was allowed to run for weeks before that happen. Of course the media is doing its best to undermine the war effort in Iraq by showing only negitive images and stories in Iraq no where will you find them covering stories of the military opening schools, hospitals, restoring power or anything else that is positive.

Shocked by the widespread suffering of those displaced from their homes by the flooding in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina, Senator Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) offered to plug one of the holes in the Lake Pontchartrain levee with his own ample body. "The Bush Administration has failed to stem the tide of this cataclysm," said Kennedy. "I have had some experience with aquatic mishaps. This experience will bolster me in this hour of desperation as I plug one of the leaks myself." Kennedy has arranged to have the Air Force transport him by helicopter and lower him into the easternmost breach in the levee. The hope is that the senator's doughy frame will be pliable enough to conform to the hole's dimensions and halt or, at least slow, the flow of water from the lake into the city. President Bush praised Senator Kennedy's decision. "I think it's mighty big of him to offer so much for the good of the country," said Bush. "There aren't many who could fill such a large role in this disaster."

As the US special forces Hercules flew low over the desert in March 2003 before landing behind enemy lines, Hazim al-Shalan prepared to step onto Iraqi soil for the first time in almost 20 years.
Shalan Â the exiled leader of a ShiÂite tribe with 1m members worldwide and 250,000 in southern Iraq Â had already been helping British and American intelligence for several months. Now his task was to organise support among the ShiÂite population for the imminent invasion.

Lucky to be alive after 15 attempts on his life and accused of fraud by his former colleagues, Shalan warned last week that the country is gradually being taken over by Iran with devastating potential consequences.
Talking exclusively to The Sunday Times, he said that the Iranians influence the Iraqi police and army and even the interim government.
More than 460 Iranian intelligence agents have been captured in the country, but many thousands more are openly operating, he said.
According to Shalan, the Iranian intelligence service began infiltrating Iraq two months before the allied invasion.
When Saddam began withdrawing troops from outlying regions to protect Baghdad, Iranian intelligence officers Âentered through the desert, between 200 and 250 of them carrying just Kalashnikovs and light communication equipmentÂ.
After the invasion, the infiltrators reported back to Tehran that American troops were busy providing critical services such as water, food and medical assistance to Iraqis.
ÂThe Iranians decided there was an opportunity to send large numbers of people very quickly into Iraq. Thousands of Iranians and Iraqi exiles who had joined the militia in Iran began arriving with money to buy houses,Â said Shalan.
They sought positions of influence on the new councils and other bodies being formed.
ÂI talked to the Americans about it, told them trouble was building,Â said Shalan, who was at the time a governor in charge of the city of Diwaniyah, with 1m residents. ÂBut the Americans said the Iranians were not effective and not a threat.
ÂThey had received assurances from Tehran that Iran was not trying to get involved.Â
Iranian intelligence then started to give out small cash gifts to Iraqis who agreed to co-operate by voting for certain candidates or taking part in local demonstrations, said Shalan. He also claimed that Iraqis were ÂrecruitedÂ for military training.
ÂThe Iranians began taking people to camps just over the border in the Diyala desert region,Â he said. ÂIn these camps the Iraqis were being taught military or terrorist techniques; but there was also a very strong religious element. Thousands of men from Najaf, Karbala, Diwaniyah, Basra were being brainwashed, turned into extremists and taught to fight. They were paid between $100 and $200 a month.Â Shalan said he set up an undercover team to infiltrate the camps and report back. He compiled evidence that recruits returning to Iraq were joining the local police forces and army. He said he sent the analysis to his contacts in American military intelligence.
During 2004, according to Shalan, the Âsituation developed moreÂ. The Iranians began targeting ShiÂite officers in the army and police who were offered payments of $300 a month to attend courses with the Iranian army in Tehran.

Shalan was by now the defence minister on the interim Iraqi governing council and infiltrated the courses with undercover agents. They discovered 15 Iraqi army officers from Basra, three from Nasiriya and 20 from Amarah undergoing training. ÂIn September 2004 I sent the information to American military intelligence,Â said Shalan. ÂI warned them: they are being trained to attack you.Â
Artillery trailers, howitzers, grenades, rocket-propelled grenades and Kalashnikovs Â all bearing Iranian symbols Â were intercepted while being smuggled into Iraq.
Under interrogation, a ÂfailedÂ suicide bomber revealed the existence of an Iranian car bomb factory a few hundred metres from the Iraqi border at the closest point to Baghdad.
ÂIt was incredibly sophisticated,Â said Shalan. ÂThey were using cars with two fuel tanks and converting one tank into a bomb.Â
At the end of 2003, a captured Iranian colonel revealed another factory near the border in southern Iran which made remote-control bombs. He claimed that more than 3,000 had been smuggled into Iraq. This was corroborated by other intelligence, said Shalan.
He believes that the Iranians have two aims: to ensure Iraq becomes a religious state over which they have influence or control, and to keep the Americans under pressure.
ÂThe insurgency is a diversionary tactic by Iran to keep the American army busy,Â he said. ÂThe Iranian mission is to tie up the Americans for as long as possible so they can develop nuclear weapons.
ÂHowever, if the Americans pull out of Iraq my assessment is that the Iranians would be able to take control very quickly.
ÂThen there really would be a serious threat to world peace. Can you imagine the Iranians controlling all that oil?Â Shalan felt some vindication last week when Donald Rumsfeld, the American defence secretary, said the Iranians Âhave put people in there. They have put money in there and itÂs a very difficult thing to stopÂ.
Shalan has left Iraq under a cloud, however. Members of the government are said to be drawing up charges against him for fraud at the defence department, which he strongly denies. The details are sparse and no charges have been laid since allegations were first made at the beginning of the year while he was still defence minister.
At the time Ahmad Chalabi, a rival ShiÂite leader and former protÃ©gÃ© of Washington, claimed that $300m had been removed clandestinely from the central bank and flown to Lebanon.
The defence ministry responded that it had been a legitimate cash transfer to buy armaments; and Shalan threatened to have Chalabi arrested over his alleged involvement in a financial scandal in Jordan during the 1990s.
Chalabi is now deputy prime minister in the government formed since IraqÂs election, and Shalan is out of office. He has hired Dean & Dean, a firm of London lawyers, to defend him against his accusers in a legal action in the high court.

The head of homeland security made a move to speed up the construction of a security fence on the U.S. border. Chertoff exercised his right to by-pass environmental and other litigation to complete the fence. Which is a welcome sign, it's about time someone told all those enviromental nuts and obstructionist to go screw themselves. Washington Times has the story.....

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff yesterday exercised his legal authority to bypass regulatory obstacles that had long delayed completion of a 14-mile border "enforcement zone" near San Diego. "Completing the border infrastructure system will strengthen our efforts to reduce illegal entry to the United States. Congress provided us the authority to ensure this project is completed, and I intend to use it," Mr. Chertoff said. The order came under the Homeland Security Act of 2002 and the Real ID Act of 2005, both of which mandated construction of necessary infrastructure in the region to reduce illegal entry and improve border security -- but that has been delayed since 1996 by litigation and environmental challenges. U.S. Border Patrol chief David V. Aguilar, during a press briefing, called the project "the next important step in border security," saying it would allow an enforcement zone in San Diego that would free up manpower and resources for other areas. "This is not about building a fence but managing our borders more effectively. That's a good thing, not only for San Diego and California, but also Mexico," Mr. Aguilar said, noting that elevated levels of illegal immigration had increased crime on both sides of the border. "This is about border security, about the responsibility we have to protect our nation." He said primary and secondary fences, parallel roadways to give Border Patrol agents immediate access to the boundary and speed response efforts, stadium lighting to deter border crossers, and sensors and surveillance cameras to monitor incursions would create "a certainty of arrest in that zone." "This is not so much about apprehension, but about deterrence. It will give us accessibility and mobility on the border," he said. Rep. F. James Sensenbrenner Jr., Wisconsin Republican and author of the Real ID Act, said that although U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) deserved credit for improving security in the area, "completion of this congressionally mandated border fence continues to be stymied by litigation and obstructionism." "This intolerable situation forced Congress earlier this year to pass the Real ID Act, which gave Secretary Chertoff the authority he announced today he will be exercising," he said. Mr. Sensenbrenner, who is chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, said the project would improve the security of the American public, especially those in the San Diego area; allow CBP to use its resources in a more effective manner; and clean up the environmental destruction that has resulted from illegal border crossings. Mr. Chertoff noted that construction within the middle nine miles of the project area has begun, and that an extension of the roadway system, barriers and lighting would expand the project to areas west and east of the current enforcement zone. He said the initial construction efforts resulted in a decline in border crossings and reduced what he called the "negative environmental impacts" to the region caused by illegal migration, such as trails of garbage, destruction of vegetation and trampling of sensitive lands. Mr. Chertoff said that by completing both phases of the project, damage to the surrounding environment will be sharply reduced. "The Department of Homeland Security is not compromising its commitment to responsible environmental stewardship in the area," he said. "We will act in an environmentally responsible manner consistent with the security needs of the nation."

China Threat, Round Three (ding, ding)

Does China's People's Liberation Army have the teeth to chomp down on Taiwan? Responding to a twitchy New York Times story from last week, China-watcher Jeffrey Lewis said no. But Jane's Defence Weekly thinks the answer may soon be yes.

An emerging consensus among long-time PLA observers, including within the US intelligence community, is that the Chinese military has successfully achieved a far-reaching qualitative advancement in its war-fighting capabilities since the beginning of this decade. The PLA is quickly becoming an increasingly credible threat against Taiwan and could even begin to pose a challenge to US military preponderance in East Asia in the next decade if the momentum is sustained.

The country's leadership has given strong backing to the PLA's transformation and force-regeneration efforts, which has translated into a hefty and sustained increase in military spending over the past few years. The officially published defence budget has risen on average by 15 per cent over the past five years from ¥121 billion ($15 billion) in 2001 to ¥220 billion last year...

The Pentagon and US intelligence community estimates that these published figures represent between one-third and one half of actual Chinese military expenditures.

The PLA is engaged in a rapid build up of necessary assets that includes amassing a sizeable short- and medium-range ballistic missile force, cruise missiles and special operations units and strengthening its strategic surveillance, reconnaissance and targeting capabilities. The Taiwanese Defence Ministry in March 2005 reported that the PLA had deployed around 700 ballistic missiles in the vicinity of the Taiwan Strait and was also quickly building an arsenal of at least 200 Hong-Niao cruise missiles within the next year…

To be able to fight high-tech wars, the PLA is shifting its recruitment system from a reliance on poorly educated conscripts, who now serve only two years, to emphasise the development of a professional long-serving cadre of troops…. The PLA will reduce its manpower from 2.5 million to 2.3 million soldiers by the end of this year. This comes on top of a reduction of 500,000 troops in the late 1990s….

[With the troops that are left] "the PLA has shifted focus towards amphibious operations for a significant part of the ground forces", Dennis Blasko, a former US Army attaché in China, points out. This has included the reorganisation of two motorised infantry divisions in the Nanjing and Guangzhou Military Regions into amphibious infantry divisions and the transfer of another infantry division to the navy to form a second marine brigade in the late 1990s.

Blasko estimates that around a quarter of all PLA manoeuvre units, which number around 20 divisions or brigades, plus supporting artillery and air-defence units, have participated in training exercises for amphibious operations…

[Meanwhile] The PLA Navy (PLAN) is rapidly transforming itself from a coastal force into a bluewater naval power with a force modernisation drive that is unprecedented in the post-Cold War era. "The range and number of warships the Chinese navy is acquiring can be compared to the Soviet Union's race to become an ocean-going navy to rival the US in the 1970s," said a China-based foreign naval attaché.

The US intelligence community has reported that since 2001, the Chinese shipbuilding industry has produced 23 new amphibious assault ships and 13 conventional attack submarines.

The current top priority for the PLAN is the replacement of its fleet of outdated Soviet-era conventional and nuclear submarines with five new advanced models of domestically developed and imported Russian vessels…

The long-awaited Type 093 nuclear-powered attack submarine (SSN) is also close to entering into service, with the lead vessel already undergoing sea trials and expected to be accepted by the navy this year. There are reports that three hulls of this new class have already been laid…

The Type 094 nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine, said to be an elongated version of the Type 093 and equipped with JL-2 sea-launched intercontinental ballistic missiles, is reported to have been launched last July and could be operational within the next couple of years. This is well ahead of Pentagon forecasts, which had previously estimated that the Type 094 would not enter service until towards the end of this decade.

Marines will storm beaches, to be joined by paratroopers in a mock invasion of an imaginary country.
The eight-day operation got under way in Vladivostok, in Russia's far east, with consultations between military delegations from the two countries.
Analysts say the two sides are signalling they are prepared to counter US dominance in international affairs.
The manoeuvres are being watched closely by Washington, but the US has not chosen to send official observers.
CHINA-RUSSIA EXERCISES

"We are following the exercises," US State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said this week.

They will be also be monitored in Taiwan, which China regards as a renegade province.
'No threat'
But China and Russia have stressed that the exercises, dubbed Peace Mission 2005, are not designed to intimidate.
"Our exercises don't threaten any country," General Yuri Baluyevsky, the head of the Russian armed forces general staff, told a news conference in Vladivostok.
General Liang Guanglie, chief of the general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, said they were designed to "protect peace and stability in our region and the whole world".

China's military has been modernising rapidlyHe said they were part of the "fight against international terrorism, separatism and extremism".
He denied the two countries were planning some kind of military union.
The exercises, involving air, sea, and ground units, involve mainly Chinese troops and will climax next week with an amphibious and paratroop landing on China's Shandong peninsula in the Yellow Sea.
Heralding the start of the drills, the Russian and Chinese commanders laid wreaths at a World War II memorial in Vladivostok before a Russian honour guard, and veterans from both countries also placed flowers there.

The History of China and Taiwan

How it all started and why it is important to support Taiwan and ensure their future.. PBS Reports.........

Nationalist leader Chiang Kai-shek withdrew to Taiwan, with two million refugees, vowing the reclaim the mainland.
With the influx of so many refugees, resentment grew between the millions of native Taiwanese and the mainland newcomers. The conflict reached such a point that Chiang imposed a "perpetual" martial law over the island for the next 38 years. Thousands of opponents were executed under his rule, and severe restrictions were placed on civil and political liberties.
With the outbreak of the Korean War in 1950 U.S. President Harry S. Truman ordered the 7th Fleet into the Taiwan Strait to prevent possible Chinese attack on the island. It was the first time the United States had intervened in the conflict between the island and mainland. The U.S. considered Taiwan a buffer against communist expansion in Asia and provided the island money and military supplies.

Calls for independence
During the 1960s some native Taiwanese, upset by the rule of the mainland minority, began to call for independence from China. It was during this time that focus shifted from reclaiming the mainland to developing the island itself.
But it was also during this period that the U.S. and other countries began improving relations with China as a way to prevent Soviet expansionism. In 1971, the United Nations expelled Taipei's nationalist government in favor of Beijing's. Eight years later, the United States formally recognized the People's Republic of China, severing official diplomatic relations with Taiwan, now under the rule of Chiang's son, Chiang Ching-kuo. The U.S. move meant that America accepted Beijing's "one China" mandate and abandoned its defense pact with the island. Within months, though, the U.S. Congress reinstated unofficial economic ties with Taiwan, including the sale of arms.
Democratic movements began to stir on Taiwan in 1979. A rally in the southern city of Kaohsiung turned violent and was crushed by police. The leaders were arrested and later defended by a little-known, but successful, maritime commerce lawyer named Chen Shui-bian. Chen, twenty years later, would become the first non-Nationalist party elected Taiwanese president.

Lee Teng-hui becomes president
Taiwan dropped its martial law in 1987, only a year before the death of Chiang Ching-kuo. On Chiang's death, Vice President Lee Teng-hui became the first native islander to become president, and in 1990, the National Assembly elected him to a full six-year term.
Lee tried to strengthen diplomatic relations with countries around the world, including the U.S. In 1995, he traveled to the United States and met with President Clinton. As presidential elections neared in 1996, tensions in the Taiwan Straits reached a new level when China test fired missiles in March. Many in Taiwan said the mainland was trying to influence voting in the election by the show of force.

The Hong Kong handover
In 1997, as Britain prepared to return control of Hong Kong to China, Taiwan conducted live military exercises in the Straits. Experts said it was to demostrate that Taiwan would not quiretly follow the Hong Kong example. The United States began shipping fighter jets to Taiwan that year, and on the island itself the pro-independence Democratic Progressive Party won municipal elections.
In 1999, President Lee announced that Taiwan enjoyed a "special state-to-state relationship" with China. This statement of implied state sovereignty angered Beijing. Taipei backed away from the position, but talks between the two leaderships were cut off.

Democratic Progressive Party

This year, as Taiwan prepared for its next presidential election tension over the independence issue flared again. This time, three candidates were running: Chen Shui-bian of the Democratic Progressive Party, independent James Soong Chu-yu and Nationalist Vice President Lien Chan. As the three candidates appeared close in the polls, Premier Zhu Rongji threatened "bloodshed" if the Taiwanese voters "acted on impulse." Though he did not directly say it, the statement was pointed at supporters of Chen, whose party calls for independence.
Despite the veiled threats, Chen won narrowly by 310,000 votes, collecting 39.3 percent of the vote. Soong placed second after departing the Nationalist party, leaving Lien in third. For the first time in 50 years, a non-nationalist KMT party leader would take the helm in Taiwan. Some Taiwanese said they rallied behind Chen in the wake of China's threats. Others liked his pledge to defeat corruption.
Since the election, Chen has softened his party's call for a sovereign "Republic of Taiwan," and said he will not declare independence unless Taiwan comes under military attack.

Here's a cool article I found, I think I'll do a special on China since there is so little out there. It will be fun to round up some articles on the subject.
We cannot and should not divert focus from the immediate demands of fighting the war on terror. However, concurrently, it is imperative that we (Congress and the Pentagon) direct resources to develop and establish the necessary force structure and weapons systems necessary to deal with the probably China Threat down the road.
China continues to build its military and technology. The Clinton administration provided China with a 10-year boost in satellite technology (either as a bribe or gratuity), and the immediate result was China's move to create a Chinese GPS system separate and apart from the current U.S. global system.
‘Preparing the battlefield' is a martial basic. Once upon a time it consisted of archers attriting the enemy. Later it became artillery ‘softening' the enemy. Delivery systems have improved with laser designators and now GPS ‘smart bombs'.
In the future, ‘preparing the battlefield' will include disrupting command and control mechanisms. With two rival GPS systems in place, we can anticipate that prior to any tanks or missiles being deployed, phase one will consist of trying to take out satellites. ‘Preparation of the battlefield' isn't going to happen just ‘on the battlefield' but also in space.

Al-Qaida nukes already in U.S.

WASHINGTON Â As London recovers from the latest deadly al-Qaida attack that killed at least 50, top U.S. government officials are contemplating what they consider to be an inevitable and much bigger assault on America Â one likely to kill millions, destroy the economy and fundamentally alter the course of history, reports Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin.
According to captured al-Qaida leaders and documents, the plan is called the "American Hiroshima" and involves the multiple detonation of nuclear weapons already smuggled into the U.S. over the Mexican border with the help of the MS-13 street gang and other organized crime groups. Al-Qaida has obtained at least 40 nuclear weapons from the former Soviet Union Â including suitcase nukes, nuclear mines, artillery shells and even some missile warheads. In addition, documents captured in Afghanistan show al-Qaida had plans to assemble its own nuclear weapons with fissile material it purchased on the black market.
In addition to detonating its own nuclear weapons already planted in the U.S., military sources also say there is evidence to suggest al-Qaida is paying former Russian special forces Spetznaz to assist the terrorist group in locating nuclear weapons formerly concealed inside the U.S. by the Soviet Union during the Cold War. Osama bin Laden's group is also paying nuclear scientists from Russia and Pakistan to maintain its existing nuclear arsenal and assemble additional weapons with the materials it has invested hundreds of millions in procuring over a period of 10 years.
The plans for the devastating nuclear attack on the U.S. have been under development for more than a decade. It is designed as a final deadly blow of defeat to the U.S., which is seen by al-Qaida and its allies as "the Great Satan."
At least half the nuclear weapons in the al-Qaida arsenal were obtained for cash from the Chechen terrorist allies.
But the most disturbing news is that high level U.S. officials now believe at least some of those weapons have been smuggled into the U.S. for use in the near future in major cities as part of this "American Hiroshima" plan, according to an upcoming book, "The Al Qaeda Connection: International Terrorism, Organized Crime and the Coming Apocalypse," by Paul L. Williams, a former FBI consultant.
According to Williams, former CIA Director George Tenet informed President Bush one month after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks that at least two suitcase nukes had reached al-Qaida operatives in the U.S.
"Each suitcase weighed between 50 and 80 kilograms (approximately 110 to 176 pounds) and contained enough fissionable plutonium and uranium to produce an explosive yield in excess of two kilotons," wrote Williams. "One suitcase bore the serial number 9999 and the Russian manufacturing date of 1988. The design of the weapons, Tenet told the president, is simple. The plutonium and uranium are kept in separate compartments that are linked to a triggering mechanism that can be activated by a clock or a call from the cell phone."
According to the author, the news sent Bush "through the roof," prompting him to order his national security team to give nuclear terrorism priority over every other threat to America.
However, it is worth noting that Bush failed to translate this policy into securing the U.S.-Mexico border through which the nuclear weapons and al-Qaida operatives are believed to have passed with the help of the MS-13 smugglers. He did, however, order the building of underground bunkers away from major metropolitan areas for use by federal government managers following an attack.

Bin Laden, according to Williams, has nearly unlimited funds to spend on his nuclear terrorism plan because he has remained in control of the Afghanistan-produced heroin industry. Poppy production has greatly increased even while U.S. troops are occupying the country, he writes. Al-Qaida has developed close relations with the Albanian Mafia, which assists in the smuggling and sale of heroin throughout Europe and the U.S.
Some of that money is used to pay off the notorious MS-13 street gang between $30,000 and $50,000 for each sleeper agent smuggled into the U.S. from Mexico. The sleepers are also provided with phony identification, most often bogus matricula consular ID cards indistinguishable from Mexico's official ID, now accepted in the U.S. to open bank accounts and obtain driver's licenses.
The Bush administration's unwillingness to secure the U.S.-Mexico border has puzzled and dismayed a growing number of activists and ordinary citizens who see it as the No. 1 security threat to the nation. The Minuteman organization is planning a major mobilization of thousands of Americans this fall designed to shut down the entire 2,000-mile border as it did in April with a 23-mile stretch in Arizona.
According to Williams' sources, thousands of al-Qaida sleeper agents have now been forward deployed into the U.S. to carry out their individual roles in the coming "American Hiroshima" plan.
Bin Laden's goal, according to the book, is to kill at least 4 million Americans, 2 million of whom must be children. Only then, bin Laden has said, would the crimes committed by America on the Arab and Muslim world be avenged.
There is virtually no doubt among intelligence analysts al-Qaida has obtained fully assembled nuclear weapons, according to Williams. The only question is how many. Estimates range between a dozen and 70. The breathtaking news is that an undetermined number of these weapons, including suitcase bombs, mines and crude tactical nuclear weapons, have already been smuggled into the U.S. Â at least some across the U.S.-Mexico border.
The future plan, according to captured al-Qaida agents and documents, suggests the attacks will take place simultaneously in major cities throughout the country Â including New York, Boston, Washington, Las Vegas, Miami, Chicago and Los Angeles.
In response to the G2 Bulletin revelations, Chris Simcox, founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, a citizen action group demanding the U.S. government take control of its borders, said an immediate military presence on the borders is now imperative "to stop the overwhelming influx of unidentified, potentially hostile and seditious persons coming across at an alarming rate."
"Terrorists have carte blanche to carry practically anything they want across our national line at this time," he said. "As ordinary citizens have warned this government for years, the only surprising part about the new information reported here is that nothing apocalyptic from Mexican-border weapons trafficking has yet happened. Terrorism has reared its ugly head in London again these past few days, and as we know all too well we are not immune in this country. At this point, the next attempt to attack America at home is just a matter of 'when,' not 'if.' And our unsecured borders have surely contributed to this threat Â yet our government officials continue to fiddle while our nation's margin of security and safety burns away. The president and Congress had better wake up before they have to answer for another devastating terrorist incursion on our own soil."

It is with deep regret that I say this.....I believe before I die a nuclear device will be denoted in this country and it saddens me to see this great nation being brought to kneel by the enemy within. Chinese warships remind Japanese of challenge on seas

In a muscular display of its rising military and economic might, China deployed a fleet of five warships last week near a gas field in the East China Sea, a potentially resource-rich area that is disputed by China and Japan.
The ships, including a guided-missile destroyer, were spotted by a Japanese military patrol plane near the Chunxiao gas field, according to Japan's Maritime Self-Defense Forces. It is believed to be the first time that Chinese warships have been seen in that area.
Although the fleet's mission was unclear, its timing suggested that it was no coincidence. The warships appeared two days before the general election in Japan on Sunday and weeks before China is scheduled to start producing gas in the area, against strong Japanese protests.
In Japan, where the 12-day election campaign was exclusively focused on domestic issues, the warships were a sudden reminder of its most pressing outside challenge: China.
Until Koizumi diverted Japanese voters' attention from Japan's deteriorating relationship with China, the focus for several months had been on the increasing diplomatic, military and economic rivalry with China - much of it taking place in the waters between the countries.
Both Japan and China are determined to wield a strong hand in the oil-rich seas and strategic shipping lanes that lie between them.
"It is like the 1930s again, when the Central Pacific became a vital concern to both the United States and Japan, whose navy was expanding," said Admiral Lang Ning-li, who until his recent retirement was Taiwan's director of naval intelligence. "That means there could be conflict between China and Japan, which both see these seas as vital, and can't share this space."
Security experts from China, Japan, Taiwan and the United States say that all the elements are in place for a showdown over Taiwan between Beijing and Tokyo. No one is predicting war, but Taiwan poses a permanent and unpredictable potential crisis.
Washington has a close alliance with Japan, security commitments with Taiwan and a complex relationship with China that mixes rivalry with extensive economic ties.
For America, whose support of either Japan or China has historically tipped the balance in the region, the implications are enormous.
The recent comments by a Chinese general that his country would use nuclear weapons against the United States if the American military intervened in a conflict over Taiwan were a sharp reminder that Taiwan's fate remains one of the region's biggest flash points.
Many analysts argue that such confrontation, verbal or otherwise, could lead to a regional arms race culminating in a nuclear-armed Japan.
Japan imports all of its oil, and because much of it passes through the seas surrounding Taiwan, it believes that its survival is dependent on keeping those seas stable. Chinese control of Taiwan could hurt Japan's access to oil, Japan fears.
And the United States, which has pledged to defend Taiwan if it is attacked by China, would like to count on Japan's help. During the Cold War, Japan conducted joint operations with the United States to keep Soviet submarines out of the Sea of Japan.
The submarines are now Chinese, but the policy toward them is pure containment.
During the Cold War, the United States was willing to let Japan remain militarily passive as long as it remained a loyal ally, continued to buy American arms and allowed tens of thousands of American troops to be stationed on Japanese soil.
The Bush administration, clearly more suspicious of China than its predecessor, has pushed Japan to take a more assertive stance. It has called for closer cooperation between the countries' militaries and defense industries and has encouraged conservative Japanese politicians who have long wanted to change the Self-Defense Forces into a full-fledged military and revise Japan's Constitution.
After China shocked Japan by becoming the third nation to launch a human being into space in late 2003, Japan - which had always regarded such missions as wasteful - recently announced that it would send a Japanese astronaut to the moon within 20 years.
In a major readjustment of its defense policy late last year, Japan redeployed its forces away from northern Japan and the containment of Russia to Okinawa and the containment of China in the East China Sea. Japan's Defense Agency said China was a "concern" because of its nuclear and missile capabilities and the modernization of its navy and air force.
Japan has joined the United States in lobbying the European Union not to lift its arms embargo on China. But the strongest signal yet was Japan's tougher public stance on defending Taiwan against China.
"The joint statement had less to do with Taiwan and more to do with the rise of China, and how Japan and the United States feel a threat from China," said David Huang, Taiwan's vice chairman of mainland affairs. He added: "The joint statement is a signal to China: 'Don't push too far."'
The United States may see its future rivalry with China as on a global stage. But for Japan, the stage is Asia and the epicenter is around Taiwan.
Most of Japan's oil is shipped through two sea lanes: one directly south of Taiwan and another farther south, which increases shipping time by two days.
"If you assume conditions are balanced now," said Admiral Koichi Furusho, the former chief of staff of Japan's Maritime Self-Defense Forces, "they would collapse as soon as Taiwan unifies with China. The sea lanes would turn all red."
Lately, China has moved swiftly to warn its neighbor in unusually blunt terms that any interference with Beijing's designs over Taiwan would be dealt with forcefully.
"I would like to say calmly to Japan, the Taiwan issue is a domestic affair and a matter of life or death to us," China's foreign minister, Li Zhaoxing, told his Japanese counterpart recently.
"It is dangerous to touch China's matter of life or death."

Here are two fine examples of why you should never listen to any artist of any type when they are commenting on world affairs. These two jewels are shining proof that just because you are gifted in one area doesn't mean you are gifted in every area. They should stick to what they are good at and just shut up when it comes to anything else.
First, lets look at Mr.West's comments about the president. West said on a live national fund raiser for the victim's of Katrina that the President of the America is a racist. He said, " George Bush doesn't care about black people." then he said to everyone astonishment that, " They've given them permission to go down there and shoot us." Mr. West's comments where totally irresponsible and uncalled for. West is proof that you can take the brother out of the ghetto but you can't take the ghetto out of the brother.
Then there is Ms. Dion who was on Larry King live when she decided to tell the world how it so be according to her. Again a talented and gifted singer thinks she knows it all when she says that we should let people loot and take whatever they want. She says they are poor and have never had anything nice so if they want 20 pairs of jeans or a 42" plasma screen then let them have it. They are just poor victims of a terrible storm and of course the victims of a tyrannical government who has done nothing to help the poor people of New Orleans. Gee, Dion that's swell, but what about the poor business owner who is also a victim of the storm and now will be a victim of looters what do they get for their suffering. Oh that's right you didn't think of that because your too busy feeling sorry for all the criminals down their who are taking advantage of a terrible situation to get ahead at others expense. Ms. Dion you need to come down from your ivory tower and smell what your shoveling. I think after you spend thirty seconds in the real world you would realize how stupid your comments are. Maybe you would realize that the rule of law and the maintenance of order is more important than letting looters run wild in the streets. Every looter should be shot on sight period the only except to that would be people taking food or water. If your walking out of Circuit City with a new plasma screen you should receive a double tap right between your eyes. I don't care if your just pushing a shopping cart down the street with stolen goods in it you need to be dropped where your at. After a couple of days of that kind of real response maintaining safety in the streets would be easy and saving those in need would be easier.

This blog was established because of the lack of timely information that Right-Side has become famous or should I say infamous for. This is no fault of the hard working team over there but just their CEO Steve Curr. Who, in recent months has become ever more consumed by his demented need to complete his furby collection at all cost. Yes it is sad really watching this once vibrant young man, sink ever deeper into his furby psychosis. Hopefully, with intense therapy Mr. Curr will return to his former self and again post to his site with some sense of normalcy. Terrorist Strike London film at eleven

Well, they did it again...Terrorist struck London today killing 40 and wounding hundreds. But the British with their stiff upper lip and all, took it on the chin. Then I got to watch all the talking heads tell me how I shouldn't blame the Muslims that these people are radicals, hell bent on destroying us. For the most part, I believe they are right that the people conducting these attacks are radicals. Radicals raised since birth to hate America and her allies, to hate Jews and Christians alike. These radicals will never make peace with us they will never rest till we are totally destroyed. But the one thing that disturbed me the most is the silence from the Muslim majority that are not radicals. Why haven't they stood up to these radicals? Where are the marches in the streets demanding something be done to end the bloodshed? Why aren't the Muslim leaders making statements denouncing these terrorist? They have to know who they are and where they are coming from. Why hasn't anyone stepped forward to help us defeated them? It makes me wonder if in their hearts of hearts that they want the radicals to win. That's why I believe our number one priority needs to be to infiltrate these Arab communities and begin collecting intelligence on theses people and anytime we discover individuals with even remote links to terrorist we need to send them to Cuba to join their friends. This includes any America's citizens who are harboring and aiding the enemy. These suspects should be held as enemy combatants because this is a war we are fighting not a police action. I think Congress needs to make a formal decoration of WAR on these terrorist and the countries that give aid and shelter to them. We need to care less for their feelings and more about our security. These groups and their supporters present a clear and present danger to the well being of this great nation and it is time to act accordingly and if the liberal scum that is trying to destroy this great nation don't like it then let them leave it forever.

Race Relations in America

Over the years critics have charged that the Justice System is racist in how it deals with minority youth. Most of these critics have pointed to statistics that show minorities are over represented in the justice system when compared to the general population of the region they reside in. However, few of the critics how taken the time to examine the cause of the over representation of minorities in the system. Instead they scream racist in an attempt to focus media attention on themselves in order to further their own agenda. One has to look no further then the likes of Al Sharpen, Jesse Jackson or Luis Farrakhan to see that the above statement is true. These men exploit minorities to gain power and wealth for themselves and not for the people they profess to protect.
However, despite these men and their self serving agendas some progress has been made to explain the disparity in the incarceration rates of juvenile offenders. A number of studies have been conducted to explain why minorities are more likely to be referred or detained in the Justice System. The studies do suggest that racism plays a role in the referral of individuals whether by individuals or by system bias. However, they also suggest that socioeconomic factors and the family play a significant role when determining if a minority juvenile will offend and if they do how they will be processed.

While thier is racism in the system it is not as wide spread as the critics would have you believe. It seems apparent that more needs to be done to fight poverty and the lack of education in the community when this is accomplished the disparity in the Justice System should be reduced if not eliminated. Although there is racism in the justice system today it is not as prevalent as some would lead you to believe. Through continued education in the form of cultural and ethnic sensitivity training and the modification of departmental policy racism can be overcome eventually. What is needed today is greater emphases on community out reach programs that are design to meet the needs of our most impoverish communities. Programs such as adult school classes, job training, parenting classes, and substance abuse classes would be a good start to help these communities. Free counseling to individuals and families would also speed the healing of the damage already done. Police should coordinate with local community leaders to set up community watch programs and provide community liaison officers to handle community specific problems. Through the use of liaison officers it will enable the department to foster a closer relationship with the community by putting a face of the department the people in the targeted community will know and trust. Also advertising to the community that they are welcome to go on ride-alongs would allow community members to see what life is like from the perspective of a police officer which will aid in greater understanding of the challenges faced by police officers today. Hopefully with continue dialog law enforcement and the communities they protect will be able to put pass wrongs behind them and more forward to better future.

War on Illegals is escalating

A bill proposed by Sen. Ray Haynes (R) would create a border police in California to pick up the slack that the Federal government won't pick up. Thank God for Sen. Haynes and his insightful decision to do something about illegal immigration in California. Not only would the bill tackle the border crossers but also the people who hirer them. But of course Art Torres, the state Democratic Party chairman said that forming a police agency to patrol the border is redundant because the federal government already has one and it would be a waste of money. Art said, "To hire a whole new law enforcement doesn't make sense from a cost perspective or a jurisdictional perspective," Well Art it does make sense when the Feds are not doing their job and we have illegals costing California, not the federal government, billions of dollars a year in services. I hope this bill passes and other states start to follow California's example. I think this could be a great start to turn the tide in the war on illegals. Thank you Minutemen!

Col. David H. Hackworth, 1930-2005

A great America died today...A true American Hero Col. Hackworth will forever be remembered as one of the great military men of our times, right up there with the likes of Sgt. York or Gen. Patton. He was a man forged in battle and wasn't afraid to tell it like it is. Which of course didn't win him high praise from career officers. Here is a brief description of his achievements" Over the next 26 years he spent fully seven in combat. He was put in for the Medal of Honor three times; the last application is currently under review at the Pentagon. He was twice awarded the Army's second highest honor for valor, the Distinguished Service Cross, along with 10 Silver Stars and 8 Bronze Stars. Let's spend it on illegal criminals that's much more productive. I can only imagine the conversations that happen in the capital over spending. If this isn't a clear sign that we need to lock our borders down I don't know what is. I have an idea instead of spending money to house these guys. Why don't we deport them to an island of the southern tip of South America and if they make it all the way back to the U.S. then they can stay cause at least they earned it then. But no we couldn't do that cause that is inhumane and we would hurt someone's feelings. So we'll just sit here and do nothing til America perishes from the earth under the weigh of the increasing illegal immigration problem.

The article I just read is a powerful example of how the liberals are choking common sense and standards out of America. The article focuses on political correctness and the effect it has had on LAPD. The article outlines how the powers that be lower standards to allow people with questionable backgrounds to become officers and then shows how the leadership did nothing to them when they were found to be engaging in criminal activities to include drug trafficking. The article is very compelling and I encourage anyone with some time to read it. Just keep this one thing in mind when reading, the story only covers LAPD imagine what is happen in other departments across the country. Once you've thought about that you can start to appreciate the seriousness of the problem.

Health Care for everyone except Americans

That's right you too can have health care for free as long as your not an American citizen.
I mean after all, who is going to pay for all this health care! You seriously can't expect the foreigners to pay for it can you?
Yes That's right, Our wonderful government has decided to pay all medical expenses for illegals who use our hospituals. This is the same government that can barely pay for the war on terrorism. The same government that can't provide Americans with health care. The same government that can even gurantee social security to the people who have paid into it all thier lives. The list goes on and on and on... It just amazes me that we can afford to give money to everyone and thier mother. But when it comes to taking care of America all of a sudden everyone is broke. What's wrong with that picture...We elected our leaders to run the government and work on our behalf, so far it looks like they are working on everyone elses behalf except ours. It's time for the silent majority to rise up and vote these so call leaders out of office and put people in there who will provide for the American citizen first not last. President begs for oil

Recently President Bush had Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah over to the ranch to discuss oil production. Basically the meeting went something like this.....

Bush (On Knees): Please produce more oil for us!!!! Please,Please,Please.....

Abdullah: uummmmm...... We'll think about it.

I think it is revolting that the leader of the greatest nation on earth has to be reduced to a beggar so that we can have oil. When are we going to wake up and create an effective energy plan that will end (once and for all) our dependence on foreign oil. How long are we going to let the tail wag the dog?!?!?! Here is what I would do if I were President:
1. Give federal dollars to fund research in alternative fuels.
2. Give yearly tax breaks to people buying hybrid-cars.
3. Demand oil from Mexico to offset cost of all the damn illegals over here.
4. Give tax breaks to auto markers to make hybrid cars more affordable.
5. Invest in greater mass transit systems across the U.S.
6. Pass a law at the federal and state level, requiring all government vehicles with the except of emergency vehicles to be hybrid vehicles.
Lets face facts folks with out the oil the camel jockeys would be nothing but just that camel jockeys...

They are never going to produce enough oil to really lower the price of gas simply because it is not in their interest to do so and don't think for a moment I'm the only one who thinks this way read this article written by Allan Topol:

The pictures from President Bush's Texas home at the time of the recent visit by Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah were disconcerting. The President was strolling hand in hand with the Saudi prince because that's the Arab custom among men who are friends. The trouble is that friendship wasn't the driving force for our President's effort to buddy up to Abdullah.
Instead, the American President was pleading for help to ease the price of oil. The leader of the world's most powerful nation was forced to assume the humiliating role of a beggar, because of the American energy mess now in its 35th year since the 1973 Arab oil embargo.
Bush's immediate objective at this meeting was to persuade the Saudis to pump more oil from their huge reserves that would lead, the President hopes, to lower oil prices and hence lower prices at the pump. The President's humiliation was pointless. All he received from Abdullah was an ambiguous, “We'll consider it.”
Even if Abdullah had agreed to increase Saudi pumping by ten or 20 percent, that would at most be a band-aid for a hemorrhaging wound. The real question is: how long will we, as a nation, continue to keep our head buried in the sand about energy.
From the President's point of view, it's easy to understand why he would do whatever it takes to push gasoline prices -- which are already close to $3 a gallon in some parts of the country. The American people may be divided about our military effort in Iraq or Senator Frist's nuclear option to eliminate the filibuster of judges, but a couple of top issues bring national unity: love of the automobile (the bigger the better), and our desire for low gasoline prices.
Growing up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, I could identify most automobile models before I knew what all the states were or who Pennsylvania's governor was. My life began at 16 when I got a driver's license like most of my friends.
Now, we're ready to hit the road with warm weather approaching. The President had better deliver some relief. If he does not, you can be sure that his approval ratings will plunge regardless of what happens in Iraq. Shiites and Sunnis step aside. The real action is at the gasoline pump.
Let's be fair to President Bush. He's not responsible for the problem. He did not create a situation in which the world's largest consumer of energy has been unable to build a single new nuclear power plant, while most of the developed world has gone the nuclear power route. Even the French obtain three quarters of their electricity from nuclear while we continue to burn fossil fuel.
Of course there are risks involved with nuclear power as with anything in life. Have you ever stopped to ask why we're the only major country in the world that refuses to deal with those risks? We've let a tiny minority of people hijack our national interest. This congress could end that situation, but its agenda is focused on other priorities that are heading congress toward legislative gridlock.
Then there are those gas-guzzling SUV's. Count them on the road or in a parking lot. The small car and even the sedan are becoming less and less visible.
All of these problems didn't develop in the last four years. But the current administration, like its predecessors, has refused to bite the bullet and propose a tough energy program calling for the building of nuclear power plants and real limitations on automobile consumption.
Instead, we keep hoping that somehow science will provide a solution in the form of hydrogen or some other exotic technology. So far, they are pie in the sky. But we continue to believe “time is on our side.”
Guess what? Time has now become our enemy on the energy issue. There has been one recent development that has exacerbated our situation. China and India have begun importing massive quantities of oil and natural gas. Our previously perilous situation is now spiraling downward.
Each American president since 1973 has managed to kick the can on energy, pushing the problem to his successor. At this rate, whatever social security payments we receive will all end up going for electricity and gasoline.

Why Democrats criticize Bush's ideas

Democrats like Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Sens. Dianne Feinstein, Barbara Boxer, Joe Biden, Richard Durbin, Edward Kennedy, Patrick Leahy, Charles Schumer, John Kerry and Hillary Clinton are well-educated lawmakers. The combination of being well-educated and being lawmakers would make one think that they should be able to propose a bill to fix Social Security, improve the economy, solve the energy crisis, help alleviate the border problem and improve public education. But not one single solution has been proposed by these lawmakers. They seem to be living in a vacuum of creativity and positive ideas.
I don't believe that these Democrats are stupid or don't have creative ideas. I do believe they see their socialist power being eroded by President Bush's administration. So their first line of defense is a campaign of negativism. This is very sad and very selfish on their part, not to participate in an exchange of ideas in so many critical areas. Perhaps more input from their constituents would help make them see the error of their ways.

I read an article today online. Were Congress is considering putting federal troops on the border to stop the flow of illegals into our nation. Although the bill is likely to be voted down, it is still a measure of success that the bill was even proposed let alone voted on and passed the House of Representatives. With any hope they'll continue to refine the bill until it is passed into law. When a bill is passed that secures our borders it will be a major step forward in increasing the security of the nation. I believe thirty years from now when we look back we will ask ourselves what the big deal was all about, because immigrants will still be coming to America except they will be here legally.

Ethics in America

I feel that society in general is less ethical today then it was thirty years ago. Every where you turn you are bombard with messages from the media promoting unsafe sex, crime and violence. This has occurred to the point where most people are desensitized to violent behavior and criminal activity. So it is only natural that we start to see that type of behavior manifest itself in the workplace. There once was a time in America where people would put other people before themselves, not anymore today it is all about me and what you can do for me. People today are more selfish and will do almost anything to get ahead of the guy next to them even if it means lying or cheating to do it. The leading cause of theft in business today is not shoplifters its employee theft. Employees today think they can steal from their place of work and it is O.K. because they (the business) can afford it or their attitude is that they owe me. I feel the lack of morals and ethics in the media and the continued destruction of the traditional family model has led us to where we are today. This lack of ethics has even seeped into professions people could once count on to be ethical such as the medical profession. In today’s America the news is filled with Doctors writing prescriptions for patients who do not need them. There are also stories of Doctors performing unnecessary surgery just so they can charge your insurance company. The corruption and unethical behavior is not just limited to the medical profession it is everywhere. Whether it is the Contractor who over charges for materials or the Lawyer who over bills you for hours he did not work. The results of the “me first” generation are everywhere. I believe that there was once a time when America was predisposed to be an ethical nation today I am not so sure anymore.
Until we as a society reevaluate what is important to us as far as values, morals and ethics are concern. We will continue to be plagued by the fruits of our unethical labor. We will continue to see greater instances of professionals we could once trust violate that trust to make a quick buck or to fulfill some other need. It is time that we as Americans stand up for what is decent and just and turn away from the garbage that Hollywood and the media in general is trying so hard to shove down our throats.

Tort reform

This story is a shining illustration of why we need tort reform in America. It is insane that we as a nation allow criminals to sue over injuries sustained during the commission of a crime. If it where up to me (and liberals better be damn glad it isn't) I would ban all criminals and their families from suing for any kind of damages at all. I would also shield home owners from lawsuits arising from them defending their homes or property.

A police officer facing criminal charges after he shot a fleeing robber needed to be shown that thieves were not "sitting ducks", a court heard yesterday.
In a committal hearing at Downing Centre Local Court, Sergeant Shane Cribb faced four charges over the shooting of Shannon Johnston, a career criminal, in a car park in Abbotsford on January 2, 2001, while he was an undercover detective at Burwood.
Cribb, an officer for 14 years, was charged with maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and three counts of discharging a firearm likely to endanger the safety of another person.
NSW Police guidelines forbid an officer from aiming a gun or shooting at people or moving cars unless their lives or the lives of others are in danger.
Johnston and two accomplices, who he has refused to name, had ram-raided a Caltex service station at Blakehurst about 2.30am and stolen $15,000 in cigarettes, cash and phone cards.
They then drove to the car park in Gow Street, Abbotsford, where Cribb and another officer caught up with them. The officers parked their unmarked car across the exit ramp of the block of units and, as the men drove towards it, Cribb shouted for them to stop. But they scraped past the car and escaped, the court heard.
Cribb later told police that the car "came straight at me. I couldn't get out of the way quick enough so I drew my revolver and fired a couple of shots".
He fired three shots, and a bullet passed through Johnston's left shoulder and lodged in his chest, where it remains.
Police later found Johnston hiding in a nearby carport, after his two accomplices had left him on the street, and was taken to hospital with a collapsed lung.
At the hospital he allegedly said to officers: "I was only the driver. Why did he have to shoot me?" Yesterday he denied had said this, saying he was a passenger.
He also denied saying: "You guys have no compassion. The next time I will f---in' run you guys down ... you watch, the next time I will f---in' kill you."
Johnston, who had stolen $292,000 worth of goods to feed a heroin addiction between 1997 and 2001, has begun a civil action against the state, claiming compensation of up to $750,000.
Yesterday Johnston told the court the civil suit was "to show all the boys who been shot ... that we're not just sitting ducks".
Asked by the defence barrister, John Daley, SC, how much money he hoped to get from it, he replied: "I don't know, maybe enough to buy a WRX."
Johnston was initially charged with using the Subaru WRX to assault Cribb. But charges were dropped after he told the Police Integrity Commission in April 2002 that he was not the driver. He was put on a two-year good behaviour bond after pleading guilty to the theft and break and enter charges.
Cribb's friends, family and colleagues, including his boss at Cobar police station, Superintendent Ron Mason, rallied around him in a show of support. The hearing continues.

Well it's been awhile since I've been pissed off, so I decided to visit the ACLU Website. While I was there I ran across an article about what the ACLU is doing to protect the rights of immigrants coming to America. It just amazes me people actually read and believe the garbage they are spewing. Below are some rather nice excepts:

"Since April 1, armed private individuals under the so-called "Minuteman project" have come to Arizona for the purported purpose of spotting and reporting individuals who the Minutemen claim are violating federal immigration law. In fact, there have been growing reports and allegations of abuse of immigrants as a result of the Minutemen’s activities. Increasingly, it appears that private citizens near the Arizona border are engaging in illegal treatment of immigrants."

Where do they get this stuff?!?!?! Armed individuals???, where has it been reported that they where armed. In fact there has only been one incident of a person using a weapon to detain illegal aliens and he was an army reservist. Also, where are these reports of the abuse of illegal aliens. There is nothing but unfounded allegations in this article and every other article put out by the ACLU....But wait, there's more:

"Eleanor Eisenberg, Executive Director of the ACLU of Arizona, added, "The Minuteman project has created a powder-keg situation with the potential to go beyond harassment and false imprisonment to real violence. We hope that our observer project will continue to shed light on the activities of the Minutemen and will ensure that private citizens do not detain, harass or humiliate others in violation of the law."

False imprisonment?? Please, who's side are they on anyways??!?! I think the ACLU needs to be outlawed. If they are so concerned about Mexican immigrants why don't they go sue the Mexican government for not providing them with welfare so they can sit in their country. Instead of coming over here and sucking our resources.

HOUSTON, TX - A man accused of shooting a 1 1/2-year-old boy to death while the child was strapped into his car seat is a member of a violent Central American gang that's being investigated by a national task force, authorities said.
Miguel Angel Castro faces capital murder charges and is accused of firing five shots into the windshield of a car that Aiden Naquin was riding in with his family last week. Castro belongs to the gang Mara Salvatrucha, or MS-13, the Harris County Sheriff's Department said.
Houston police want to question other suspects who they say were with Castro, a 19-year-old Salvadoran, during a recent standoff about possible connections to nine other area homicides. Federal officials are also investigating the gang.
"When we look at Houston, we will be looking for ties that may connect to other parts of the U.S.," said Bob Clifford, who heads the MS-13 National Task Force that formed in January. "This gang's propensity for vicious violence, its rapid spread and ties to violent Central American cliques have made it the highest priority of the FBI's gang investigations."

Ernest Naquin was returning to his home after taking his three children to get ice cream in Huffman, about 30 miles (48.28 kilometers) northeast of Houston, when the shooting occurred. The toddler was strapped into his car seat while the rest of the family ducked and was shot in the head.
Investigators said they are certain the Naquin family was the target of the shooting, and they are trying to figure out what drew the gang's attention, said Harris County Sheriff's Lt. John Denholm.
Naquin, 27, insists he has no connection to his son's killer and believes it was a case of mistaken identity.
Naquin was released from prison in 2002 and has convictions for misdemeanor assault of a family member, burglary of a habitation, arson and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, Harris County records show. Since his release, Naquin has been the children's main caretaker while his wife works.
An alleged MS-13 gang member who is a suspect in the killings of 28 people in Honduras, was arrested in McAllen Feb. 10 trying to illegally cross an immigration checkpoint, Clifford said.
The gang was the target of a federal crackdown last month that swept six U.S. cities, resulting in 103 arrests. Mara Salvatrucha was started by Salvadoran refugees in the Los Angeles area in the early 1980s and is now in 31 other states.

In recent months, America has finally started to wake up to the threat that is our borders. Thanks to patriots like the minutemen project who have forced national attention on the problem. It is only a matter of time before a terrorist brings a nuclear device across or something else and release it on us. America needs to place the National Guard on the border to patrol in addition to the development of a wall. I figure a large 80 foot high wall the with of a two lane road will do. The reason the wall would be so thick is to allow the border patrol or NG units to drive along the wall, effectively making it a highway so that resources can rapidly be deployed to remote areas along the wall to stop the illegal invasion.

The Chinese have an interesting saying, really its a curse that goes like this "may you live in interesting times...". We truly live in interesting times. America in recent years has come under increasing attack by radical liberals hell bent on destroying America from within. They have infiltrated the media and use it as a propaganda tool to spread their agenda. Everyday the news is filled with articles and news stories of the leftist agenda whether its gay rights, same sex marriage, immigration or the barring of religious symbols in public. We as America's must and need to wake up and stand up for what is right to stop these traitors before its too late.
